HO! EVERYONE THAT THIRSTETH, COME YE TO THE WATERS, AND HE THAT HATH NO MONEY; COME YE, BUY AND EAT, YEA, COME BUY WINE AND MILK WITHOUT MONEY AND WITHOUT PRICE. WHEREFORE DO YOU SPEND MONEY FOR THAT WHICH IS NOT BREAD? AND YOUR LABOR FOR THAT WHICH SATISFIETH NOT? HEARKEN DILIGENTLY UNTO ME, AND EAT THAT WHICH IS GOOD, AND LET YOUR SOUL DELIGHT ITSELF IN FATNESS.
INCLINE YOUR EAR, AND COME UNTO ME HEAR, AND YOUR SOUL SHALL LIVE. AND I WILL MAKE AN EVERLASTING COVENANT WITH YOU, EVEN THE SURE [CONFIRMED] MERCIES OF DAVID. [ISAIAH 55:1-3].
THEIR IS A STORY OF A RICH INDUSTRIALIST WHO WAS DISTURBED TO FIND A FISHERMAN SITTING LAZILY BESIDE HIS BOAT." WHY AREN'T YOU OUT THERE FISHING, HE ASKED? BECAUSE I HAVE CAUGHT ENOUGH FISH FOR TODAY"
SAID THE FISHERMAN. WHY DON'T YOU CATCH MORE FISH THEN YOU NEED? THE RICH MAN ASKED. WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THEM?" "YOU COULD EVEN EARN MORE MONEY." CAME THE IMPATIENT REPLY,AND BUY A BIGGER BOAT AND CATCH MORE FISH. YOU COULD PURCHASE NYLON NETS, CATCH EVEN MORE FISH AND MAKE MORE MONEY. SOON YOU'D HAVE FLEET OF BOATS AND BE RICH LIKE ME."
THE FISHERMAN ASKED:" THEN WHAT WOULD I DO?" " YOU COULD SIT DOWN AND ENJOY LIFE." SAID THE INDUSTRIALIST." WHAT DO YOU THINK I'M DOING NOW?. THE FISHERMAN REPLIED AS HE LOOKED PLACIDLY OUT TO SEA. FEW PEOPLE EVER REACH THAT LEVEL OF CONTENTMENT? IN FACT , ONE POET PUT IT THIS WAY:
AS A RULE, MAN'S A FOOL
WHEN'S IT'S HOT, HE WANTS COOL.
AND WHEN ITS COOL, HE WANTS HOT,
ALWAYS WANTING WHAT IS NOT.
ISN'T THAT THE TRUTH? WE LIVE IN A WORLD OF DISCONTENDED PEOPLE. EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK, PEOPLE ARE STRIVING FOR MORE STUFF, THEY ARE LABORING FOR TRUE CONTENMENT IN PLACES, PEOPLE, AND THINGS THAT NEVER PROVIDE CONTENT AND SATISFIED WITH THEIR PLACE IN LIFE. WHY IS THAT? I THINK THE ANSWER LIES IN THE FACT THAT PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR TRUE CONTENMENT IN PLACES, PEOPLE AND THINGS THAT CAN NEVER PROVIDE CONTENTMENT TO THEM. THEY SEEK SATISFACTION IN THEIR POSSESSIONS. THEY BELIEVE THAT "THINGS" WILL GIVE THEM CONENTMENT. THEY SPEND THEIR TIME MAKING MONEY
